Sports equipment

You don’t just need facilities to play sport, you also need equipment.

So when you apply for an Inspired Facilities grant, you can also apply for funding to buy equipment that will help you make the most out of your improved facility.

For example, if you’re modernising a sports hall and have identified boxing as one of the activities your members or local community want, you could also apply for funding to pay for a boxing ring and wall-hung bags.

We simply ask that:

  • The equipment must be available for general use (and not given to an individual)
  • It must relate to the improvement or development you are proposing (for example hockey sticks, balls and goals to go with resurfacing an outdoor sport surface).
  • You must explain how it will improve the quality and quantity of sporting opportunities, not merely replace worn-out existing equipment.

SPORTS EQUIPMENT PRICES AND POSSIBLE DISCOUNT

The Sports and Fitness Equipment Association (SAFEA) and its member organisations are offering a 10% discount off all equipment purchases to those projects in receipt of an Inspired Facilities award.

All you need to do is visit the SAFEA website  which will provide you with a list of the sports their members cater for.

On accessing a price via the appropriate supplier website (accessed via links from the SAFEA website) please take off 10% in order to enter accurate costs for your application.

If you are successful in receiving an Inspired award you will then be given a code to allow you to access the 10% discount when you buy the equipment.

If the equipment you want is not available via SAFEA members you will need to gather the details yourself and include three quotes or costs per item so we can make sure we’re getting the best value for money.

Please note that if you apply for very high quality pieces of equipment that are more expensive than average you will have to explain why this is necessary on your application form.

Finally, please make sure the costs you submit include VAT where applicable
